About our facility
Located on 45 acres 3 miles east of New Albany, Ohio, the owners had a vision for Kennel Club USA of a single facility where their Champion show dogs could exercise, be properly trained, be professionally groomed, and board without anxiety and stress. They wanted a peaceful, park-like setting away from highways, busy intersections, and urban congestion. The result is a clean and beautiful facility more reminiscent of a fine Kentucky thoroughbred stable than a dog kennel. Whatever your needs, Kennel Club USA is here to serve the Columbus, Ohio community.
After business hours, the gates entering our property are closed and the entire property is monitored and secured for fire and theft by Monotronics Security.
Our entire facility (10,000 sq.ft.) is sanitized and disinfected daily with the same veterinary grade products used in animal surgical hospitals to kill bacteria and maintain a safe and sterile environment.
Water and food bowls are changed and sanitized daily.
There are two separate kennel "wings". Each is divided into two separate rooms. There are four separate heating and air conditioning systems to minimize the spread of airborne viruses. In addition, each of the four systems is equipped with auxiliary ventilation that is controllable to bring in up to 12 complete fresh air changes per hour.
Dogs not participating in our Daycamp programs are walked in a grassy area a minimum of 3 times per day. Medications are given at no extra charge.
You are welcome to bring your own food as changing a dog's diet will often cause digestive problems.
You are welcome to bring personal items such as toys, bedding and food containers as long as they are permanently marked with your name and weigh no more than 25lbs. in total. We allow dogs from the same family to board together providing they are able to eat together without needing to be separated.

Every dog needs exercise and socialization. Most of us lead busy lives and really don't have the time to take our dog to the park every day to run. At Kennel Club USA's Doggie Daycamp we do that for you. You are not limited to having your dog indoors in a small, overcrowded room. Our 45 acre property has 3 large, secure outdoor grassy areas where your dog can run and exercise. We have a ¾ acre pond where your dog can swim and water retrieve. In addition we have two secure outdoor areas that are ⅓ covered by roof and have concrete floor surfaces to protect your dog when bad weather would otherwise prevent them from being outdoors. And we have a large indoor area with cathedral ceilings. There is no other pet care facility in the Midwest with so many available options! Each dog is assigned a private kennel during the day where it can drink without the worries associated with sharing a communal water bowl and where it can rest comfortable for the mid-day nap. All toys are washed daily to keep them clean and sanitary.
Drop your dog off on the way to work and pick them up on your way home at the end of the day. Our Doggie Daycamp operates from 7:00am Monday through Friday until 7:00pm. But please be warned! Most dogs are so tired when they go home that they just lie still all evening!
It is a mistake to leave a puppy home alone for hours at a time. They need a lot of socialization and exercise. At Kennel Club USA puppies have their own exercise group. We watch their development and make sure they are ready before allowing them to join the ranks of the "big" dogs.

We have designed our Obedience Training program with your specific needs in mind. Some of us are looking for simple things from our dogs while others would like their dog to return to them on command from several hundred yards away at a dog park. Our Obedience Training is broken down into one-week increments allowing you the flexibility to have your dog trained to the level that meets your needs. During “WEEK” programs your dog stays with us at the kennel. Each week there are clear achievements your dog will attain. On the day you pick up you will have a session with our trainer to pass the handling techniques to you. You may schedule two additional follow up sessions at no charge. Upon successful testing for week 1, your dog is welcome to continue into week 2 where the level of training and performance by your dog will increase. In the event you feel that you have achieved your goals you are welcome to stop training and take your dog home. If, after seeing how much your dog accomplished in one week you desire to reach a higher level of obedience, you continue to week 2. After week 2, there is the opportunity for week 3 and following that, week 4. Also after successful completion of Week 2 you may continue “A la Carte” training for specified Correctional Training. Following week 4, “A la Carte” Specialized Training may be scheduled. A la Carte programs are one business week in length, Monday – Friday. You dog must arrive before 9:00 am and be picked up after 5:00pm the same day giving you the opportunity to reinforce the training each day at your home.
Below are the levels of achievement your dog will attain at the end of each week, followed by a list of A la Carte programs. Keep in mind obedience training is like anything else. You cannot expect to start running before you learn to walk. Prior to advancement for additional training your dog will be required to pass a test.
A la Carte Weeks
HEEL on a leash without pulling, SIT on command at your side, DOWN on command at your side, STAY on command long enough for us to walk out in front of our dog to the length of its leash without your dog moving, COME on command from the length of the 6 foot leash.View WEEK 1 Certification Test
Introduction of the PLACE command where your dog will go to its bed and stay until released on a 6’ dragline for a minimum of 2 minutes.View WEEK 2 Certification Test
Strengthening: HEEL with greater distractions, STAY with a dropped leash at a distance of 15’ for 2 minutes, SIT in front of Handler at a distance of 6’, DOWN in front of Handler at a distance of 6’, COME from the length of a 30’ long line.
We begin to transfer all commands to "off-leash". At this point you may elect to introduce electronic stimulation, which we feel is the safest and most effective method for off-leash training. Introduction of the command LEAVE IT (do not engage), PLACE on command without being released for a minimum of 10 minutes (automatically reinforcing the distance the Handler can move away from the dog), SIT on command while the Handler is in motion, DOWN on command while the Handler is in motion.View WEEK 3 Certification Test
Introduction of FIELD TRIPS where we will transport your dog to various public places offsite and reinforce all commands in public settings.View WEEK 4 Certification Test
Increase PLACE command off leash for 30 minutes, DOWN command at a distance of 10’, SIT command at a distance of 10’, COME command from a distance of 100’.
'A la Carte'
An opportunity to choose a specific behavior for us to correct in some cases and teach a specialization in others. The prerequisite for our “Correctional” ala Carte weeks are successful testing of WEEK 1 and WEEK 2 obedience.
